Template Export Details and Configuration
Parameterized Settings
Every exported template is created with a few common settings parameterized. These settings are available for configuration when you apply the template.
The default parameters inserted into the template are:
- Url
- Title
- Description
- Language
Important: Template Review and Validation
When using the Make export function, we recommend having some familiarity with template building so you can review the generated code of every template you export.
- This exported template is often larger than needed because all configurations are included—not just those specific to your desired template, but also standard SharePoint configurations.
- The template can be altered to remove standard configurations and to apply additional, custom configurations.
- If your template requires more parameters than the defaults listed above, you will need to modify the template accordingly.
The Make Export functionality is intended to provide you with a head start in working with templates, rather than serving as a full migration tool. It is therefore required to perform a manual validation of the exported template and the parameters provided within it.
Export Configuration Fields
| Field | Description | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Type of export | You can choose to create either a Make template or a PhP template. | It is recommended to use Make templates to utilize all available features. |
| Target url | The URL of the site you want to create a template from. Click the ‘Check’ button to validate the URL. | N/A |
| Configuration name | The name for the configuration, allowing you to easily find it when applying or viewing the configuration later. | N/A |
| Export scopes | Allows you to narrow down the export. When scopes are selected, only the selected areas will be present in the template, rather than the entire site. | The available scopes differ based on whether you select Make or PhP as the export type. |
Submitting the Request
